The fall 2019 Native Stone Scenic Byway Stone Fence Restoration Workshop will be October 12 and 13, 2019.
Rocky Slaymaker, a professionally trained dry stone conservancy mason will lead the workshop which will be held in Eskridge, Kansas on K-4 Highway and Beta Street.
The workshop will give participants the opportunity to learn the techniques of dry stone fence building and repair during this hands-on workshop.

Friends of Meadowlark have a fun and tasty opportunity to support the Meadowlark Foundation’s Good Samaritan Fund when the doors to Cox Bros.
BBQ open at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24. Brothers Bud and Bobby Cox, sons of Meadowlark Hills resident Ellie Cox, pledge to donate 10-percent of that day’s proceeds to the Fund during our 6th annual HOGTOBERFEST. Five hog kissing candidates will solicit votes in the form of dollars, with the candidate collecting the most money kissing a (young) hog shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Cox Bros.
HOGTOBERFEST would certainly be fun with just barbecue, brews and music, but there’s more! In order to create additional opportunities to raise money and awareness for the Good Samaritan Fund, a HOG & Kisses Contest has begun, and 50/50 raffle tickets are now on sale soon. The 50/50 raffle winner takes home half of the money collected by ticket sales, and half of the proceeds support the
Good Samaritan Fund.

Members from the Master of Public Health program and the College of Veterinary Medicine will be joining the Riley County Health Department on Thursday, Oct. 24, for a special event called Okt-FLU-ber Fest.
These veterinary and public health experts will answer questions about influenza in pets and what people can do to keep all family members — people and pets — safe from various strains of influenza.
Okt-FLU-ber Fest will include a vaccine clinic for kids and adults in a fun, family atmosphere. The clinic is from 2-7 p.m. in Pottorf Hall at Cico Park in Manhattan. Registration for vaccinations closes at 6:45 p.m.
Each child who is vaccinated will receive a pumpkin while supplies last. Games and educational opportunities also will be available.
