Saint Patty's celebrations span four decades with road races and holiday parade
Saint Patrick’s Day in Aggieville.
One huge celebration. Held in the state’s most celebrated entertainment district. They go together like, well … like green beer and Saint Patty’s Day.
2019 marks the 40th parade (41st SPD races) along Moro in the Aggieville district. A lone, 10-kilometer race introduced the Manhattan community to organized Saint Patrick’s Day events in 1979, followed in 1980 by a small parade and the addition of a 2-mile race to broaden the appeal beyond dedicated long-distance runners. A tradition was born!
Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations in Manhattan have grown tremendously ever since. Thousands of celebrants flock into Aggieville to mark the occasion, typically on the nearest Saturday to March 17. In 2019, Aggieville Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and 10-kilometer run get started a week ahead of traditional celebrations. Mark it down: March 9, 2019. Aggieville America!
