Spectator Sports

Sports viewing reaches a fever pitch each fall when September arrives to bring college football action to Manhattan. Football is king in MHK and around the nation!

The Big 12 Conference round-robin schedule rotation means each school visits Manhattan biennially. K-State Wildcats are perennial contenders each season, with the third-most Big 12 wins in 22 seasons. The Wildcat basketball programs each make regular postseason appearances and volleyball is well-attended in venerable Ahearn Field House. KSU baseball and soccer programs are each experiencing facility renovations. In 2020, K-State will host the Big 12 Conference track and field championship at the R.V. Christian track complex.

K-State Athletics

K-State sports seize much of the attention and bring nationwide audiences to the doorstep of The Little Apple®. Manhattan has thrived from the Wildcats' gridiron success and attention garnered by legendary coach Bill Snyder, a 2015 hall of fame inductee.

Team roping at the rodeo

The last week of July means the Kaw Valley Rodeo and Riley County Fair annual ride into town. Each year, nationally-ranked bull riders and broncbusters compete in the PRCA-sanctioned rodeo at CiCo Park Fairgrounds. K-State rodeo ropers are in action the last weekend in February.
