Centennial celebration exhibit showcases 100-plus artifacts and photographs significant to the history of the Riley County community. Notable objects include a section of original seating from Wareham Opera House, penny-farthing bicycle owned by Guy Varney, hand-carved sunflower clock made from local wood for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, 1893.Many objects on view have been rarely exhibited. Centennial exhibition accompanied by series of programs (watch for announcements and check calendar).

Dr. Fred Espenak, Scientist Emeritus/NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, delivers the 2017 Neff Public Lecture (presented on non-technical level). On Aug. 21, a total eclipse of the sun will be visible from the contiguous U.S. for the first time since 1979. Espenak, a retired astrophysicist from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, is known as "Mr. Eclipse" because he has written more than a dozen books on the subject.
